Janette's Crafty Goodies | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
What to do with a bored 16 year old.My Niece desperately wanted some fluffy rave boots, but mum’s not buying them quickly enough. During the half term hols, she was showing me these on the internet (perhaps hoping I would buy them or persuade her mum to buy them now ?). Why would I buy her something I could make? Or something she could make herself? As she is doing textiles GCSE I decided she could make them.As it happened we had all the materials she needed to hand, A fluffy purple rug (bought for 50p at the car boot sale because I thought I could make something with it), Scraps of black jersey fabric (leftover from another project) and some elastic (I buy elastic in bulk so always have it handy). Total cost of project = approx 55p. She made these over two afternoons, I was honoured, 2 visits in one week without being forced.
The Horns/ears were for halloween. She's too big for trick or treating herself, so now she takes my youngest two so she can share their goodies. Another one!!!I am so in love with this dress. Made my second one tonight. Going to a wedding on saturday, not sure which one I will wear though, will decide on the day. Might have another one to choose from by then.
Infinite DressI have wanted to make one of these dresses for ages. I bought enough fabric to make six of them a couple of months ago and kept putting it off. Not sure why as once I got started on it, it was done in about an hour and a half. The top of the dress is just two long straps that can be wrapped in loads of different variations, to make it look like loads of different dresses.
Two skirts from one!Tonights efforts were quite productive. I left all the other bits I had cut out and decided to recon a skirt for my niece. I've had the bits for ages and knew what I wanted to do with them, just getting around to doing it was the problem. I picked up the skirt in a local charity shop, I liked it, but I knew I wouldn't wear it. after showing it to my niece and throwing a few ideas around this is what I ended up making her. She hasn't seen them yet, so I hope this is how she imagined them to be. Before
After
I hope she likes them, I'll have to try and get a shot of her wearing them.
