Lego - Not just a boys toyMy eldest has grown up with lego, now he’s at that age where its not cool anymore we decided it was time to get rid of some of it (way too much to keep it all for his little brother plus lack of space now we have three kids in the house). Being the true craft addict that I am, I couldn’t let it go without putting some of it to a different use.Introducing my new range in lego jewellery. The possibilities are endless!!!

I used to love spangles as a child, yet another childhood favourite that isn’t available any more. Those that are still for sale (Opal Fruits, Marathons, etc) have all had a name change so they’re not the same anymore. These beads were calling to me and as I can’t eat them this is what I created.
Recycled Head PhonesNothing is safe from a bit of creative recyling in our house. I’ve added an extra box to the recycling boxes. We now have paper, cardboard, cans, glass, plastic and the new one, things to make stuff with. At last somewhere to put all the random objects that get my brain ticking away with the question “what can I make with this?” Todays random object is a pair of in ear headphones. Which resulted in 2 bracelets and a pair of earrings
Wire Crochet Jewellery.I’ve attempted to crochet with several things that aren’t really normal, plastic bags, video and cassette tape, but this has to of been the most difficult to work with. Wire, I thought I had done well, choosing a soft, quite thin wire for this project. I’m pleased it wasn’t any longer, played havoc with my delicate little fingers. The only problem is I want to make some more as I love the effect of this. It looks so intricate and I have to have a matching bracelet.
All that GlittersI love sparkly things, but unfortunately my budget won’t stretch to diamonds so I decided to make some more jewellery. It’s something I used to do a lot of, but more recently I’ve been doing other things.Just a couple of basic pieces , pendant necklace on organza ribbon, and a pair of simple drop earrings.
Crocheted JewelleryKeith over in Smithy Lane has made more posts than me, so I thought it was about time I took some time out from crafting and shared some more of my finished goodies with you, (If only to keep Keith on his toes). I decided to combine two of my current crafts and came up with this crocheted necklace and bracelet set. Crocheted using a two tone lustre purple yarn and an assortment of glass beads. This was so much fun to make, quite quick to do and I love the way that it has turned out.
But do I file this one under Jewellery or crochet????? Beaded Lanyards - Not a handbag?Ok, so my sister Di, the handbag addict, arrives at the house to pick my brains, another handbag I thought. Not this time, she's starting a new job and not happy with the standard fabric lanyards the company issue, wants a custom made beaded lanyard. Out comes the bead box, not a big choice, so we settled on black and white. After about an hour (most of that time spent on the floor picking up stray beads) this is what we had created.
Not bad for Di's first attempt. She must be getting more creative in her old age!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
